The professor of the department of Go major at Myongji University 'Jeong-Suhyun(64)'

The Baduk department professor 'Jeong-Suhyun' will have his last class on December 2nd.

The Go(Baduk) department was established in 1997 at Myongji University, and he got an offer to become the professor here.  He was busy with attending the competitions and broadcasting activities, but he could not turn away the students. 

At that time, professor Jung was an elite professional Baduk player, winning lots of championships.  Since he joined the Go department, the scale of it got systemized and got bigger. 

Professor Jung found the motive of academic Baduk in the international academic exchange.  The first international Baduk Academic Championship was held, and it ended as a big hit.  More than 20 different countries participated in here, and Korea Baduk Conference was held in 2003 afterwards. 

Professor Jung divided academic Baduk into 3 parts, 'technology', 'culturology', and 'practical learning'.

The first alumni occurred in 2001, and more than 400 students successfully got a degree so far (25 international students).  He said, he is happy to see his students achieving their goals outside of the school. 

Professor Jung said "23 years of teaching life was such a fruitful period for me.  I still have lots to do even after retiring, I'm not sure if I can finish everything".
